Preparations for the Presidential Olympics and Asian Games discussed
A meeting dedicated to preparations for the final stage of the New Uzbekistan Olympic Peaks competitions — the Presidential Olympics — as well as the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, was held at the Ministry of Sports today.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Minister of Sports Shahrullo Mahmudov and attended by Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee Sherzod Tashmatov, as well as representatives responsible for sports federations and associations.
At the beginning of the meeting, the participants discussed preparations for the Presidential Olympics. It was noted that special attention should be paid to athlete selection, as the young athletes taking part in this year’s competitions are potential participants in the Asian Youth Games to be held in Tashkent in 2029. The meeting also focused on organisational matters, the competition schedule and ensuring objective and transparent officiating.
Preparations for the national teams for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games were also discussed in detail. Particular attention was paid to the athletes’ full preparation and the creation of the necessary conditions for a successful performance at the upcoming competition. Representatives of federations and associations were instructed to review in detail the participation plans of the national teams at the Asian Games in Japan, identify existing problems and shortcomings, and take the necessary measures to address them.
