Meeting Held with IOC President Kirsty Coventry
As part of the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, representatives of the Uzbek delegation held a meeting with International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Kirsty Coventry and James Macleod, Director of Olympic Solidarity and Head of the NOC Relations Department at the IOC.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Sports Adkham Ikramov, First Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan and Vice President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Otabek Umarov, First Deputy Chairperson of the National Paralympic Committee and First Deputy Director of the National Agency for Social Protection Shahnoza Mirziyoyeva, and NOC Secretary General Oybek Kasimov.
At the beginning of the conversation, Ms. Coventry was extended warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The officials expressed their appreciation for her contributions to the development of the International Olympic Movement and wished her continued success.
Ms. Coventry also congratulated Shahnoza Mirziyoyeva on her election to the Bureau of World Aquatics. As a former swimmer herself, she emphasized the significance of this role and shared valuable insights and recommendations.
To further acquaint herself with the current progress and achievements in the development of the Olympic Movement in Uzbekistan, and to explore future cooperation opportunities, Ms. Coventry was invited to visit Uzbekistan at a time most convenient for her.
