Press Conference Held Ahead of “Olympic Heights of the New Uzbekistan” Competition
On May 17, Uzbekistan will launch the large-scale sporting event “Olympic Heights of the New Uzbekistan,” which promises to open a new chapter in the history of national sports. Today, a press conference dedicated to this event took place at the National Olympic Committee.
Deputy Minister of Sports Shahrullo Mahmudov and Deputy Chairman of the NOC Sherzod Tashmatov answered journalists’ questions, providing detailed information about the organization of the competition.
The event will be held among boys and girls aged 15 to 17 in the following sports: judo, boxing, taekwondo (WT), weightlifting, Greco-Roman and freestyle wrestling, athletics, table tennis, rhythmic gymnastics, and 3x3 basketball. Participation is open to all eligible youth within the age range. The speakers explained why these particular sports were chosen, how to register, what awaits winners and prize-winners, and outlined the competition rules.
The tournament will take place in three stages: starting at the district level, then advancing to regional competitions, with the final held at the republican level under the name “Presidential Olympiad” at the end of the year. Winners of the final stage will receive significant benefits and valuable prizes.
The press conference also revealed other interesting details about this important and large-scale sports project, which serves a selection purpose for future talents.
