Oybek Kasimov Meets with Kirsty Coventry During OCA General Assembly
The 45th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is currently underway in Kuwait City, bringing together key figures from across the continent’s sports community. As part of this important forum, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, Oybek Kasimov, is holding a series of meetings with representatives of international sports organizations.
A particularly notable meeting took place with Kirsty Coventry — Chair of the IOC Athletes’ Commission and newly elected President of the International Olympic Committee. Mr. Kasimov warmly congratulated Ms. Coventry on her historic appointment, emphasizing that her election as the first woman and the first African to lead the IOC marks a major milestone in the evolution of the Olympic Movement.
He expressed confidence that under her leadership, the IOC would continue progressing with renewed energy and ambitious goals. Mr. Kasimov also extended an official invitation for Ms. Coventry to visit Uzbekistan and witness firsthand the ongoing sports reforms initiated by the country’s esteemed President.
