An international scientific and practical conference titled “Current Issues in the Development of Kurash” opened today in Tashkent, focusing on strengthening the international status of Uzbekistan’s traditional sport.

The event brings together leading voices to address key priorities such as the global promotion of Kurash, enhancing its presence at the Asian Games, and advancing scientific and modern training approaches within the sport.

Participants include senior officials from the International Kurash Association, the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the National Olympic Committee, the Uzbekistan Kurash Federation, as well as researchers and experts from the International Institute of Kurash and the Uzbek State University of Physical Education and Sport.

Key topics under discussion include the potential inclusion of Kurash in the Olympic program, strategies for engaging youth audiences, and the integration of advanced technologies into the training process.
