Uzbek Wrestlers Honored for Their Success at the Asian Championships

From March 25 to 30, the Asian Wrestling Championships took place in Jordan, where the national team of Uzbekistan achieved remarkable success, securing 3 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

In recognition of this outstanding accomplishment, a solemn award ceremony was held today at the building of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The event was attended by representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministries of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, the Uzbekistan Wrestling Association, as well as sports veterans, coaches, and the athletes themselves.

The ceremony was also broadcast online for the heads of regional branches of the NOC and representatives of territorial prosecutor’s offices.

Speaking at the event, officials emphasized the crucial role of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in supporting the development of sports, and noted that the team’s success at the continental championship is a clear reflection of the high level of preparation of Uzbek athletes. These victories were highlighted as a source of confidence for achieving strong results in the upcoming Olympic cycle.

As part of the ceremony, athletes, coaches, and medical professionals received financial incentives. In addition, the wrestlers were awarded certificates granting them annual scholarships from the Ministry of Sports. Special recognition was given to the head coach of the national team, Rustam Assakalov, who was awarded the honorary badge “Excellence in Physical Culture and Sports.”
